According to Cruise Industry News‘s global cruise order book, 19 new ocean cruise ships will debut in 2023, representing more than 38,000 new berths.

The ships range from the ultra-luxury Seabourn Pursuit to two more Virgin Voyages ships and the 5,400-guest Carnival Jubilee, which will depart Galveston in late 2023.

Noteworthy is the debut of Explora I from Explora Journeys, MSC’s new luxury brand.

Green ships are also a trend, with MSC Cruises’ Euribia set to run on LNG, as well as Royal Caribbean’s Silver Nova, Carnival Jubilee and Icon, which will be delivered later this year but won’t begin service until then , until 2024.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has added two ships, and a second Prima-class ship, Norwegian Viva, will begin sailing in the summer. Regent Seven Seas Grandeur follows Fincantieri in the fourth quarter.

In addition, there are five coasters, including three from American Cruise Lines and two from Havila.

Of the 38,000 ocean berths to be delivered, the ships accommodate an average of 2,031 guests and cost $562 million each to build, with a total order book value of $10.7 billion for 2023.

As for shipyards, Fincantieri will supply eight ships, and Chantiers two. Meanwhile, Meyer Turku will deliver “Ion of the Seas” and Meyer Werft will deliver “Silver Nova” and “Carnival Jubilee”.
