Route: Paris, France – (Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen) – North Pole – Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen
LE COMMANDANT CHARCOT
Sail to the North Pole on a cruise on the world’s first luxury hybrid-electric icebreaker. Drift through the ice towards the grail of all polar explorers, spotting bears, walruses and arctic birds. Also on this Arctic icebreaker cruise to the North Pole, you’ll visit the vast icy deserts of the Svalbard archipelago.
Route by day
Day 1. Paris, France – Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen
The icebreaker expedition starts from Longyearbyen.
Charter flight from Paris to Longyearbyen – the administrative center of Spitsbergen.
In the afternoon, boarding the icebreaker.
Day 2. Exploring Svalbard
From polar deserts to vast glaciers, the natural landscape here is as varied as the wildlife. When cruising this Arctic Circle island, your expedition team will ensure you get ashore as often as possible and don’t miss out on anything interesting. The island offers many opportunities for wildlife photography, and since Svalbard’s wildlife is well protected and largely uninhabited by humans, it is one of the best places in the world to see polar bears in their natural habitat – the Arctic desert.
Day 3-7. On the way to the North Pole
Enjoy a completely unique travel experience, the landscapes here are constantly changing, from the icy desert to the snow hummocks that reach a height of several meters, and of course the open water channels along which we will make our way through the ice. Ice conditions are unpredictable, and the passage to our main goal can take up to 8 days, but the unpredictability of weather conditions fills our expedition with an atmosphere of adventure.
Day 8. Geographical North Pole
Defined by 90° north latitude, the North Pole lies on the Earth’s axis of rotation. Permanently covered in ice and remote from any land, this mythical place has fascinated generations of explorers. And until now, only very few travelers have ever reached it. This is a feat that is now available to you aboard Le Commandant Charcot.
Day 9-13. Heading south
Despite the fact that the main goal of our expedition has been achieved, many interesting things await us ahead.
Our icebreaker continues to move, breaking ice hummocks and dense ice.
On board, the expedition team will share with you intimate knowledge about the history of the Arctic.
Day 14-15. Exploring Spitsbergen
We continue to explore Spitsbergen, which will amaze you with its inaccessible snow-white cliffs, surprise you with interesting historical facts and the diversity of the animal world.
Day 16. Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen
After breakfast we arrive in Longyearbyen. Disembarkation from the ship and transfer to the airport.

Description
Step aboard Le Commandant-Charcot, the most luxurious icebreaker in the world, and enjoy unique cruises in the Arctic or Antarctic.
Le Commandant-Charcot is equipped with a hybrid engine that combines the use of liquefied natural gas and electric generators, which minimizes the impact of tourist cruises on the nature of remote regions.
The ship’s finishing was carried out by two world-famous architectural and design companies, the studios of Jean-Philippe Nuel and Jean-Michel Wilmotte, creating a harmonious natural design. Here a modern approach is combined with the desire to create a warm and sophisticated environment, natural materials (stone, wood and skin) echo the living nature overboard.
With just 135 cabins, including 31 suites with panoramic balconies, Le Commandant-Charcot invites you to experience a cozy and sophisticated atmosphere. Unrivaled cuisine in two restaurants, relaxation in the indoor pool surrounded by a winter garden and relaxation in the spa area with sauna.
