Costa Toscana makes its debut in the Mediterranean.

Today the new Costa Toscana debuts in Italy. The second LNG-powered ship in the 5,224-passenger Costa Cruises fleet welcomes guests for a series of week-long sailings in the Western Mediterranean.

The ship’s first itineraries include visits to Spain, Italy and France after leaving the Costa Palacrociere cruise terminal in Savona. In addition to her home port, the seven-day cruise visits six different ports: Civitavecchia, Palermo, Valencia, Barcelona and Marseille.
Continuing its debut season, Toscana also offers various routes in the Western Mediterranean.
The 182,700-ton ship will add several ports to her schedule in November, including Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza and Naples.
In mid-December, the ship will move to Brazil for the winter season in South America. Offering a series of week-long cruises from the port of Santos, the ship will be the largest ever to offer a domestic program in the country.
According to Costa Cruises, the new ship is considered a traveling “smart city” thanks to environmentally friendly technologies.
In addition to running on LNG, the ship is equipped with other innovations designed to further reduce its environmental impact, such as a smart energy efficiency system and advanced seawater desalination plants.
As the company’s new flagship, Costa Toscana pays tribute to the Italian region of Tuscany with a creative project curated by Adam D. Tihany. According to Costa, the design aims to highlight and bring to life the best of the region that gives the ship its name, its decks and the main public areas.
Furniture, lighting, fabrics and accessories are made in Italy and were designed specifically for Costa Toscana.
The products bring the colors and atmosphere of Tuscany to all public areas on the ship, including the Solemio Spa; themed bars developed in collaboration with major Italian and international brands; and 21 restaurants.
According to the company, more than 2,600 cabins also perfectly reflect Italian style and taste.
“Costa Toscana is an innovative ship that fully interprets the new cruise experience, including the destination exploration we have been working on in recent months,” said Mario Zanetti, President of Costa Cruises.

With the debut of Costa Toscana, Costa also begins a new phase of its relaunch program. In addition to the new ship, seven more ships will resume service in the coming months.
As a result, the company’s entire fleet of 12 vessels will be ready for the summer season in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
