Liner SH Diana

This cruise is a true 13-day Antarctic adventure. Aboard SH Vega, our new 5-star ice-class vessel, you’ll explore this incredible part of the world in style and comfort. You will easily overcome the formidable Southern Ocean, enjoying breathtaking views from the panoramic windows and from the decks of the liner. Thanks to the compact size of the vessel, we can also sail through narrow passages and visit remote coves; Usually this is where you can find all the most interesting things.

Reminiscent of a boutique hotel, our elegant ship features an outdoor infinity pool with stunning sea views. On board you will also find a comfortable lounge with panoramic views and a bar, a club lounge, the gourmet Swan restaurant, a gym, a sauna and a magnificent library. Interiors made from natural materials in the Scandi style await you not only in the public areas of the ship, but also in cozy spacious cabins with fireplaces and balconies.

After passing through the famous Drake Passage, you will be greeted by stunning scenery and extraordinary wildlife upon arrival on the White Continent. Together with our experienced team, you’ll explore this icy wonderland, spotting penguins, albatrosses, whales, elephant seals and more. You can also take your Antarctic expedition to the next level by taking a traditional “polar plunge”. Plunge into the icy waters of the Southern Ocean and enjoy the invigorating afterglow with a cup of hot chocolate on the pool deck.

This extraordinary corner of the world will leave memories that will last a lifetime. Confirm your status as a true Antarctic explorer under the guidance of the experienced Swan Hellenic expedition team.

Route by day

Day 1
Ushuaia (Argentina)
Ushuaia is the gateway to the White Continent. This city, located at the southernmost tip of South America in Argentine Patagonia, is often called the “end of the world.” Mountain ranges dominate the harbor and the entrance to the Beagle Channel. The town itself can be explored on foot and has several small museums, as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes – a good place to try Patagonian lamb cooked over an open fire.

Day 2 – 4
At sea
Days at sea are rarely boring. Relax and watch the world go by. The ship’s observation decks offer stunning views of the ocean. A day at sea gives you the opportunity to chat with other passengers and share your impressions of your incredible journey, or head to our library, which is full of reference books. Get expert insight from one of our onboard lectures, or improve your photography skills with invaluable advice from our professional onboard photographers.

Day 5
Marguerite Bay (Antarctica)
If weather and ice conditions permit, we will head beyond the Antarctic Circle to Margaret Bay. Located below latitude 66°33’S, this region is rarely visited due to almost year-round ice. Here we will look for pods of whales that are often found in the area, leopard seals, Adelie penguin rookery and other birds. There are also several research bases here that we can visit if conditions are favorable.

Day 6 – 10
Exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula
Between stunning glaciers, majestic icebergs and snow-capped islands, the Antarctic Peninsula is where most visitors to the White Continent live out their Antarctica dream. The Antarctic Peninsula, the continent’s most accessible region, is home to several scientific bases and some of the most interesting wildlife landscapes, such as the extremely photogenic Lemaire Channel. Shore excursions can include Petermann Island, where huge, bulky elephant seals live among Adélie penguins, blue-eyed cormorants and skuas.

Day 11 – 12
At sea
Today, during your sea passage, you will enjoy the endless amenities of your ship. Admire the spectacular sea views from the deck. Unwind with a facial or massage at the spa, or take advantage of the educational resources on board. Or just retreat to your cabin and enjoy the opportunity to relax.

Day 13
Ushuaia (Argentina)
Ushuaia is the gateway to the White Continent. This city, located at the southernmost tip of South America in Argentine Patagonia, is often called the “end of the world.” Mountain ranges dominate the harbor and the entrance to the Beagle Channel. The town itself can be explored on foot and has several small museums, as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes – a good place to try Patagonian lamb cooked over an open fire.
